Where are the restrooms at Fountain Square Park? I guess it's been poor planning for all these years!

Fountain Square Park has none, and we all know how ugly and smelly those porta-pots can become in a hurry. But FSP already exists, and to put restrooms in
now would probably be very expensive. However, since Circle Square is brand new, now would be the time to plan for them and build them.

I'm personally glad that they didn't spend money to add restrooms, I don't feel like every park has to have all accommodations, I grew up going to Covington Woods and never realized there were restrooms there. |

I see a mobile port a pot business taking shape. Maybe Darlene can talk Jerome into converting Roach coach #2 into a rollin' honeypot.
With the phone number on the side......
and make it sound like the ice cream truck. |

Restrooms and parks | #47

I'm not really sure how not knowing Covington Park had restrooms is relevant to whether a park SHOULD have restrooms or not (where did you pee when you
went to the park? I grew up there, too, and there were many a time I was glad there was a restroom there - I sure didn't want to run home several blocks
just to use the bathroom!).

It's a downtown, grassy park area thing. It's not a sports complex. Sure, I'm a big fan of more restrooms, but I don't think it's a big
deal not to have them to service that downtown park.
If they ask for my vote, I'm voting for restrooms. But then, I don't always get everything I want, and I think I can deal with it however it works out. |

Well there's always the garbage enclosure.
I want to know who the volunteer group is who has the Standard Oil building. I'd like to let them put a privy in there and maybe vending machines. The River Walk has rest rooms and they are locked up at night to keep the homeless from loitering. |

Keeping with "History" | #52
|
In the spirit of keeping with "History", the plan is for no restrooms at Circus Square park.
The consultants, who came up with the idea during the Downtown Master Plan development, said no bathrooms will help honor the "history" of the Circus Lot site. See when the animals were at the Circus Lot site (if and or when they may have ever been at the "Circus Lot" site) they just went on the ground. So to honor and remember that supposed event, everyone is to just go on the ground. DRA is planning a "Get Out and Pee" day each third Thursday during the summer to help kick off and raise public awareness about the park. Op Pride is planning on having the prisoners who aren't mowing come out and clown around during those days. The Tourism Board is working with a bus tour group to have a stop over and "Rest-Break" down at the park while passing through BG. Our Mayor will make a presentation at the monthly United States Conference of Mayors meeting, held next month in Stockholm Sweden, travel expenses will be re-embersed at the first City Commission meeting of each month Quote the MAYOR-ELAINE N. WALKER, "This is just the type of inovation and forward thinking that I support/provoke. This will help BG jump to the forefront of the National "Keep it Green with Spots of Yellow" campaign that is sweeping the nation after being started in California 10 years ago. I sure that I don't have to tell everyone that we used to live in California when we were in the MOVIE business." So please drink plenty of fluids and come on down to Circus Square and be a part of the Downtown renovation.

Gator wrote: It will be the DRA offices! Cereally. That's a done deal. I think after they get the staff of 18 moved in, they will see how much space they have. I
don't know why they haven't moved in yet. They are paying rent downtown and own a building.
With all that building, seems like they could put in one of those troughs with a stainless steel backsplash for the boys to pee in. That just requires one connection to sewer, so how much can that cost? All those houses they tore down probably had indoor plumbing so DRA should have recycled those for use in their new building for the wimmen-folk.Re: Circle Square. Don't you think if there was incontrovertible proof of a circus in Circus Square - somebody would have been on this board to set the record straight? Their silence on this point speaks volumes. Ignore it and eventually it will fade away - and then when Mitch McConnell dies, they will call it the Mitch McConnell Annex to Mitch McConnell Water Park and Spillway. BTW: Isn't Fountain Square Park an oval?Alternative name to circus square:
Now that I think about it, the city doesn't do a good job of anticipating the elimination aspect of life. Breaking Winds Woods has a two holer for the golfer - and the 300 man events. I realize that will change when they get the new Arby's Aviary and Pro Shop. But that's a good indicator of when the city planners need to cut corners, they cut out the elimination stations.

Jerome's gonna have it loud & proud with subwoofers on the roof. No shame making money on this one. We're not sure how we are gonna charge to the pay as you go toilet service, but we will have a 5 minute rule. Clean afforable and smoking & non-smoking of course.

wimojo, imagine if you had to squat instead of just having to find a tree/bush/or just turn your back. It might have been a bigger deal.

I would really like for the old gas station to be renovated into the restrooms and vending machine area and information center. It's right across from the
front door of the Chamber of Commerce and the unforgettable stop sign on our beloved 880 by pass. Why not?
