Kyda was on the DRA board and a part of the Master plan committee at the time the research was done. Are you calling her a liar? Maybe you misunderstood the
consultant.

Kyda expressed her opinion. Not agenda. I'm expressing my opinion, but you know what? I've seen this happen too many times on this forum - issues get
lost in a semantic struggle.
See ya. |

Kyda didn't express an opinion; Kyda stated facts.
You expressed your opinion that Kyda wrote blatant untruths in the Country Peddler, and in fact is "lucky" to have that job. Semantics? The issues get lost in semantics? Dude, semantics are all we have on a message board. Words' meanings are important, and when you start topics with titles such as "Circus Square is a Bad Name!" we tend to think that what you meant to say is "Circus Square is a Bad Name!" If you were just fishing for others' opinions, you'd have named it something like "What Do You Think About Circus Square's Name?" So that we don't lose sight of your issue, let's review the letter you quoted in your first post in this topic: The named attached to the park will be there for decades. It would be foolish not to reconsider the matter simply because the name Circus Square has been used for a relatively short period of time. You believe those of us who don't want to "reconsider" the Circus Square name are foolish. You believe the Circus Square name is "meaningless" and has "no Bowling Green/Warren County attachment that is of some significance." I believe you are a chronic complainer. |

whats the number one thing folks worry about,work to get more of and brings millions of dollars into BG/WC ???
TOURISM. so john and jane doe with their 2.5 kids for whatever reason hear about Circus Square. First thing that will come to mind is circus but that's just the name circus square no clowns,no lions no three rings of performers.hell the place isnt even in the shape of a circle. i think the name circus square sucks. there has to be someone somewhere with some kind of imagination that can think up a catchy name. something with sizzle. i guess that's why all the parks around here are named after people becuase no one has enough imagination to think outside the box. maybe,just maybe we should wait till someone dies and then name it after them. i don't know who came up with the name but i remember someone wanting to call it Paulines Pavillion. folks that's just as good as anything else and makes since if you stop to think about the screwing we are about to get from the baseball,parking garage,even more un needed retail,Rick Kelly pimp daddy bending over. |

Mark, doesn't the Daily News actually own the Country Peddler? Didn't Kyda and Belinda sell the Peddler to the DN several years back but they still
manage it? Did I dream that?

Elvis, if there's no circus history there, then wouldn't the name "Circus Square" be imaginative and "outside the box"?

BG Lifer and wimojo - what's your problem with MVP? | #172 | ||

I don't understand why you're giving Mark Van Patton such a hard time. He and his wife certainly aren't the only ones questioning the name, he didn't call Kyda West a liar, and he doesn't strike me as a 'chronic complainer.' To me, he is just expressing his opinion, as we all do.
What gives? |

sylveena wrote: I believe when Kyda West wrote in her column that there had been indepth research done in naming the park and MVP discredited her column and said that she didn't know what she was talking about, in essence he called her a liar. If you didn't get that from his post then that's your opinion. He started a thread on this board and his wife wrote a letter to the editor challenging the name, then MVP proceeded to discredit the findings of those that worked on the project. I don't appreciate his attitude. He has every right to an opinion. I like to read other's thoughts on this board as well, but I get tired of attitudes from folks that only seem to come on this board and criticize the decisions that volunteer boards have made. On a personal level, I find him rude and hard to deal with.
