Posts: 1 04/06/08 11:50 AM	Tags : None Like in the article today maybe someday the truth will come out but far too many things happened to just be a rumor. An Athletic Director confirmed the Knight Speculation was valid When was the last time anyone called a press conference to announce someone was not in the running. At the press conference one college president looked upset. Not laughing about a simple rumor. It was obvious that Booby Knight was discussed and it looked like word got out. and maybe even more than that. The media picked up on the story and someone was upset that happened. Some Boosters of the program may have put together a deal to hire Bobby Knight and even had the financial package in place but I don't think the existing powers to be at WKU wanted to be second fiddle to Robert Montgomery Knight and when Hilltopper Nation was going crazy with anticipation they had to call a hasty press conference and blame a message board and the media.

Posts: 5813 04/06/08 1:52 PM	just my opinion but Selig and Ransdal have never really impressed me when it came to sports. The money is found for Football but they can't find soccer money ?They give a losing football coach a raise and promotion when they moved the Football program up to the big boy level. They will never pony up money for a Knight type coach and the truth is if Coach Knight did come here then he would have the down the road potential to get Selig or Meridith fired if they crossed him. the fans,community,alumni would more than likely support Coach Knight. He only made $200 K per year in salary at IU.

Knight would have required a salary commensurate with his skill at least equal to what other winning coaches in the conference were paid. Having all the information surrounding the possiility of Knight coaching at WKU won't change his lack of desire to serve here.

The man knows hot to coach, and he dearly loves teaching young men how to play the game. It is truly a major lost opportunity.

Above all else, Mr. Knight is human and all humans have their foibles than others can not predict. It is my opinion, lucky. I did not say it is fact beyond all doubt. It is an opinion based on what has been said or not said by Mr. Knight. Can you show me where he has expressed interest? Please show where he has expressed interest in coaching at WKU and my opinion might change. Thus far, his only statement indicating that he might have interest in returning to college level coaching some day, but for now his interests are his family. I have no problem admitting when I am wrong, particularly when evidence to prove me wrong is presented. Until then, my opinion stands.

He expressed interest for future return to coaching, with good support from the fans, but dids not mention a specific school or conference. He was just 'leaving his options open'.

Fro, I didn't want, nor need a lecture/reprisal for my question. Your post was clear. You made a pretty direct statement concerning Coach Knights lack of desire. I didn't read anything into it other than the fact you stated he had a lack of desire. Perhaps you should choose your words more carefully and not blame other's for interpetation. Look at your words. I took them at face value, I simply wanted an explanation.

We both drew conclusions based off of the same information and look at the disparity in the opinions!
