Well the sewer rats are out both in the national media and some folks closer to home. That is to be expected from minority groups and makes for humor.

Letterman made a joke about her daughter becoming pregnant, not raped. Becoming pregnant is a possibility since it did happen to one of the daughters.
Lettermans mistake was he mistakenly thought the oldest daughter was on the trip with her.

I think you went to far in lying or being misinformed in saying that he said rape. Most decent people would make a retraction when called out on the fact that rape was not mentioned by Letterman. |

I don't think she gets it. She flopped. |

Palin took her 14-year-old daughter to a baseball game. Letterman said that while Palin was at the ballgame her daughter was impregnated by a baseball player.
Of course he was referring to the daughter that was at the game with her.
I think in trying to be funny, Letterman went too far. It happens a lot when people try to be funny. It's part of the risk they take. It's really not a big deal, and I don't believe Letterman was actually being as creepy as it came across. But he gave Palin an opening and she attacked it with gusto, as anyone in her position should do. It's beyond me, though, why anyone would try to act like Letterman said something different. He said what he said, and it is what it is. Let Palin enjoy a little righteous indignation, then everyone move on. Really, folks, it's just an example of a joke gone bad. I don't believe there was any statutory rape comedy intended even if it was really easy to make that argument. But he deserves to take his lumps over it because he did serve up a defective joke. |

Todd, and BGlifer...two good posts. The woman is not Presidential material, and shows this best by quiting the governor job people elected her to do in Alaska.
All politicians are subject to jokes, the Clinton's, Obama's, and of course the Bush's, went through it and they did not even speak out, they
remained and done the job they were voted in to do. One of the mistakes Palin made was parading her family on stage with her from the start till finish.
Perhaps they should be able to do this, but in doing so you should know that you are inviting problems.

I was interested in what YOU were saying and in YOUR take on the situation, which is why I asked YOU the question.
Apparently, you don't do the "I can answer simple questions about the statements I make" thing, either. |

Sarah Palin is not a "politics as usual" kind of person. That's one of the things I like about her. I think this country is in desparate need
of a lot of people like that. I wish we could throw every congressman out and start all over, with the exception of Bret Guthrie and possibly some other new
ones.
